Education for Empowerment - School Facilities Improvement

FDC Misamis focused on fire safety for this 2017’s Brigada Eskwela adopting Kalingagan Elementary School (KES) in the municipality of Villanueva, and Baluarte Elementary School (BES) in the municipality of Tagoloan.

Themed “Isang DepEd, Isang Pamayanan, Isang Bayanihan Para sa Handa at Ligtas na Paaralan,” this year’s Brigada Eskwela’s main thrust is to make all schools in the country disaster resilient.

For KES, 70 employee volunteers rendered a half-day service assessing the school’s electrical status, cleaning classrooms, repainting the kindergarten building, and repairing minor electrical deficiencies. They also donated Electrification Materials and 1 set of School Emergency Kit.

For BES, 16 employees and 4 OJTs volunteered to assess the school’s electrical status and conducted minor electrical repair. The school was also given Electrification Materials and 1 set of School Emergency Kit.

Also, for both KES and BES, teachers, students, and parents were given information, education and communication (IEC) on basic electrical safety in school. Likewise, there was an Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP) showing FDC Misamis’ company profile, and its health and environmental safety measures.

FDC Misamis also donated Electrification and Repainting Materials to the following schools in the municipality of Villanueva: a) Don Fernando Jaciento Elementary School; b) Vicente N. Chavez Memorial School; and c) Villanueva National High School.

There were also other school beneficiaries in the municipality of Tagoloan namely a) Mohon Elementary School (MES); b) Natumulan Elementary School (NES; and c) Sta. Cruz Elementary School (SCES), all in Tagoloan as well as MOPSTEA in the municipalty of Jasaan.FDC Misamis also extended assistance to electric cooperatives in the Mindanao region who likewise participated in the Brigada Eskwela by providing Basic Electrification Materials.
