Around 62 unemployed women and men from the municipality were taught the basics of haircutting and other hair treatments, manicure, pedicure and foot spa. They also did actual hands-on work with “models” coming from the communities. The women had a written and practical exam on the last day which culminated in their graduation. The training was capped by a “Libreng Gupit” for Barangay Dayawan residents.

“With the help of FDC Misamis, ang kalambo-an naa sa inyong mga kamot. Kana nga tabang magmabungahon kung kini inyong paga-ampingan (Progress is now in your hands. And that help will be fruitful as long as you take good care of it),” Villanueva Mayor Julio Uy addressed the graduates during the closing ceremony. “This livelihood training program has taught valuable skills that can be brought anywhere the participants go. We are grateful that this program was provided to Villanueva which we hope can help improve lives of families. I know this is only the beginning of other economic opportunities that will be brought by the FDC Misamis Project.”
