Retail Electricity Supplier (RES)
An RES refers to any person or entity authorized by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to sell, broker, market or aggregate electricity to the contestable market which consists of a group of end-users who have an average peak demand of one megawatt (1 MW) for twelve (12) months before the start of retail competition. With open access and retail competition expected to be operationalized within the year, FDCUI intends to participate as an RES.
As an RES, FDCUI will be a participant to the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (also known as WESM) for the trading of electricity as a commodity. Through its subsidiary, FDC Retail Electricity Sales Corporation, FDCUI shall aggressively pursue to garner a significant share of the contestable market. This service shall be provided to clients to complement bilateral contract arrangements.
