Launching of Community -Based Mangrove Rehabilitation Program (CBMRP)

In the advent of the International Coastal Cleanup Day of 2017, FDC Misamis launched its Community -Based Mangrove Rehabilitation Program in partnership with the LGU of Villanueva and its fisherfolk organization. One thousand (1,000) hills of mangrove propagules were planted at the coastal area of barangay Looc, Villanueva. It was participated by around 170 individuals from various groups.

This is a year-round program. Once the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) is finalized, Villanueva fisherfolks will take care of the monitoring and maintenance of the mangrove to ensure sustainability. As stipulated in the MOA, PhP10,000 per month shall be given to the fisherfolks organization as a monitoring and maintenance fund. Fund disbursement shall start after MOA signing.
