Community-Based Disaster Preparedness and Response Training
FDC Misamis in partnership with the Local Government of Unit (LGU) of Villanueva, led the conduct of a Community-Based Disaster Preparedness and Response Training aimed to 1) educate key people in the barangays of Villanueva on emergency preparedness for them to become effective responders in the occurrence of any disastrous event; and 2) support the LGU of Villanueva in strengthening their municipal disaster response team by cascading disaster risk reduction and management knowledge, skills and strategies.
The Philippine Red Cross – Region 10 spearheaded and supervised the training which was participated by 80 barangay leaders and police personnel last March 8-10 and 22-24, respectively at the Villanueva gymnasium.
The participants were taught basic disaster response and first aid concepts coupled with skills training that they can use during emergency situations. All were very grateful with the knowledge and skills they have learned.
